Here’s the Box Breakdown

Our first glimpse inside the Baked Bakers Box for May.

Everything that we received in our Baked Bakers Box. This is a promo box. First boxes will ship in August!

So what is all this stuff?

Edibles Journal

The Edibles Journal is an extra you receive when you prepay for the 3 month subscription. Inside you’ll find a calculation guide as well as a logbook for you different recipes. All you have to do is add it to a three ring binder!

Cannabudda Recipe

This recipe explains how to create cannabis infused butter, which is an ingredient in this month’s cookie recipe.

We were actually kind of taken aback with how in depth this process is. Since we are making the “cannabis free” version of this month’s cookies … we didn’t need this recipe!

Budda Toffee Cookies

The cookie for this month is made with butter, toffee and brown sugar. It actually sounds quite delicious!

The instructions are clear and concise and we’re comfortable that we can complete this.

Parchment Paper

We’ll be using this to line our baking pans.

Oats

These oats will act as a binding agent in our recipe. We love how the ingredients are packaged!

Flour

It wouldn’t be baking if we weren’t using flour, amirite?!

Brown Sugar

Instead of using white sugar we’ll be using brown sugar to better compliment our butter and toffee.

Coconut Flakes

We love coconut! This will be used as one of our cookie fillings.

Chocolate Chips

Our cookies will be topped with melted chocolate. So we’ll be melting down these chocolate chips.

Toffee Bits

Another key filling that we’ll be using in our cookie is toffee. We have to say toffee is like caramel’s smarter, more handsome, older brother… and we like it!

Baking Soda

Some baking soda.

Sea Salt

This sea salt will be used as a flavor additive along with our other fillings.

Dry Erase Marker

This dry erase marker can be used with your edibles journal

Silicone Pastry Brush

We’ll be using this to brush the apply the chocolate onto our cookies

Gel Icing

This will be used to decorate our cooled cookies.

Okay, so now what?

Our first step is to line our pans and preheat our oven to 350.

Then we get out our butter and bring it to room temperature (eggs as well).

Next we’ll add our brown sugar to a large bowl with the butter and cream it together.

YUMMY!

Next we’ll add our eggs.

At this point we get a second mixing bowl and mix our dry ingredients together – flour, oats and baking soda.

We then slowly (and without over mixing) add this to our butter mixture. The dough should seem stiff.

And our final step before baking is folding in our fillings.

We lay our dough out on a baking sheet (this was a bit too close) and bake for 13 minutes.

While they’re baking we melt our chocolate.

Our finished (and decorated cookies). We aren’t big on chocolate so we only did a couple like that – most of them we kept plain! These cookies ended up being amazing. The butter and toffee and brown sugar together were fantastic!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation and presentation. The Baked Bakers Box is an interesting concept that takes your passions and fuses them together. The packaging is great, everything arrives perfectly. The quality is nice, our ingredients are pre-measured and the recipes are well thought out. Curation is perfect – everything that they could include in this box they did.. right down to the parchment paper and our cookies were DELICIOUS!
