ren mineral sunscreen review

REN Clean Skincare is an Earth and Ingredient conscious skincare company. They recently launched their first sunscreen. The Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30. Lucky us, they sent us 1 over to review and share with you guys!

Skincare Review

Each bottle contains 1.7 ounces of product and retails for $36. The claims say that this is mattifying, broad spectrum and can be used on the face. Sunscreen is something we’ve realized (in the past year or so) is essential to have with our rosacea so we are always looking for great products that have good ingredients! This product is also made with 50% recycled plastic in the tube and the cap is made with 100% recycled plastic! This is a mineral or physical sunscreen meaning it sits on your skin to deflect light rather than a chemical sunscreen.

Top 13 Ingredients

Active

Zinc Oxide 22% (sunscreen)

Inactive Ingredients

Water

Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride (emollient and solvent- ester made with coconut oil and glycerin)

Aloe Leaf Juice

Glycerin

Caprylyl Caprylate/Caprate (ester made with chain fatty acids and fatty alcohol – used as emollient)

Propanediol (reduces viscosity)

Arachidyl Alcohol (fatty alcohol used for stabilization and increasing viscosity)

Cetearyl Alcohol (mixture of alcohols)

Coco Glucaside (cleansing / foaming agent made with glucose and coconut oil derived ingredients)

Oryza Sativa Starch (rice starch used for binding and mattifying)

Pongamia Glabra Seed Oil (antioxidant and emollient derived from Milettia Pinnata tree)

Microcrystalline Cellulose (refined wood pulp used as an emulsifier)

The formula is a bit thick and and has the lightest of scents but smells nothing like sunscreen. It stays tacky for a few minutes but then it dries down. So it does come through on the mattifying claim so this would be an excellent option for folks with oily skin however we really like this and we have dry skin. A little bit goes a long way, and this much is good for our whole face. We think if you are in the market for a new facial sunscreen this one is a great option if you want to be ingredient and environmentally conscious.
