Subscription Box Review

Our first glimpse of the Spice Breeze package for March.

Everything that we received in our Spice Breeze package – um we were featured guys… how cool is that?

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert. This tells us about Nowruz the Persian New Year.

The reverse has our feature which we are absolutely so proud of. There are certain accomplishments that just feel so good and this is certainly one of them! We are totally getting this framed!

Our first spice kit is Green Peppercorns. This is our flavor for the month.

The recipe for this is Filet Mignon Au Poivre which means with pepper. We have made this one before and have to say it’s quite delicious!

Next up we have Sabzi Polo Mahi, this is a Persian dish served at Nowruz. It consists of basmati rice and a beautiful blend of fresh herbs called Advieh with fish. Our first spice packet included Fenugreek leaves and our second includes turmeric, cumin, coriander and garlic.

Next up we have Chilaquiles, a Mexican dish that is made with fried tortillas and dates back to the Aztec times. We are totally going to make this for lunch on a cheat day soon! Our spice packet includes Ancho chili, garlic, onion, cumin, oregano and cloves.

Finally to celebrate Nowruz we have Kuku Kadoo… with a name like that we could’t pass this one up. Made with eggs and vegetables you’ll be surprised at how hearty this is.

Our spice packet includes turmeric, rosebud, black pepper, cinnamon, cumin, mace and cardamom. We decided to make this recipe for the month.

First we whisk together our eggs, salt and baking powder

Once we’ve done that we add in half of the spices.

Then we mix it all together.

Once you’ve done this step, set your eggs aside.

Add your zucchini and onions to a pan. We also added some mushrooms we’ve been looking to get rid of.

We cook them until they are soft.

Then we add our veggies, sans liquid to a parchment lined (our husband forgot ours so we just made sure to oil our pan) baking dish.

Add your egg mixture and bake for 25 minutes.

It comes out like a beautiful casserole!

We served ours with black olives, flatbread, some crumbled feta and a greek yogurt dip with some dill and lemon juice. It was wonderful!

So in summary

Presentation: Everything arrived to us perfectly in our Spice Breeze package for March

Quality: We love how delicious these blends are and the fact that they use organic spices is wonderful!

Curation: We love that they introduced us to a celebration and foods to go along that we’d never have known of otherwise! Fantastic month from Spice Breeze!
