I was super excited to get the VeganCuts beauty box in the mail! I love beauty boxes!!!

Verdict: I loved this VeganCuts Beauty Box! I got a great variety of products in this box. It had 7 products and I definitely think the value was there. I have found a few new products which I will for sure be buying again and have learned that there are products that really can be great for your body without having the harmful ingredients. I loved knowing that each of these companies represented in the box cared about myself, people around the world, the environment and all living creatures. This box made me feel great about the products I am trying and will definitely make me look at products I buy in the future.

The packaging was so pretty, it arrived in clear plastic wrap, and through the clear wrapper you could see what looked like a fun, bright orange envelope. It was not an envelope it was the outside of the perfectly folded activity sheet wrapped around all the stickers. Perfect for taking on the go to restaurants, camping, vacations, or road trips. The packaging looked great! I loved how it had very minimal waste, almost everything in the pouch was used in creating sticker fun!

My girls were so excited when we checked the mailbox this morning! They had no idea this PeelyPack of stickers was arriving…they love mail! It made their day getting their own special mail! Thanks PeelyPack!

Each PeelyPack comes with an information card with a few educational activities kids can do with the stickers.

On the opposite side of the card is a special note for the parents and bookmark to colour.

Their ‘almost’ finished Sticker Masterpiece!

Verdict: My girls absolutely loved getting PeelyPack in the mail! They have spent many hours busy coloring, stickering and crafting with the PeelyPack stickers. They have for the most part worked together to color, even though their abilities are different and have done a great job sharing the stickers. They each found stickers they loved and wanted to use. There is a great variety of stickers, from fun themed ones and some more generic shaped ones. I loved the quality of the stickers and how absolutely adorable they were! A camping scene with smores, a picnic scene, bumblebees, foxes, flowers, owls, and stars. I could even see myself or other adults using these stickers for their planners or scrapbooking. My favorite part was the little bit of relaxing, free time I got to myself while my girls were busy stickering! 🙂

I was waiting very impatiently for my box this month after loving my box last month!I had such high hopes for amazing products. Instead…I was quite disappointed. Everything seemed very mediocre and had no ‘wow’ appeal.

Each Topbox comes with an information card detailing each item in your box for that month.

Amika – Perk Up Dry Shampoo

156mL – $29

A quick no wash dry shampoo, helps remove oils in your hair and gives your hair extra volume. I love this dry shampoo, I have got it before in another beauty subscription box, and found it worked great and this sized bottle lasted quite a long time. This time I will make sure to hold it the recommended 10″ away from hair, otherwise I found it left build-up.

Elizabeth Arden – SUPERSTART Skin Renewal Booster

30mL – $88

Helps restore the healthy look of your skin’s surface layer. It will boost the results of your skincare products, if used before serum or moisturizer. I am excited to try this skin booster, this is why I love subscription boxes, it is an expensive product I would never have tried, but with the small size I wonder if I will see any results.

Aveda – Air Control Hair Spray

250g -$26

Flexible, lasting hold hairspray for all hair types. Says it has a net-zero impact on the Earth’s climate…I find that hard to be true… also, the product itself is in a metal container. To me this is just hairspray I don’t think it’ll work any better than any of the other ones in the drugstore.

Barefoot Venus – Hand Cream

60mL – $5.99

Dry skin magically disappears with this hand lotion. Contains macadamia nut oil, sesame seed oil and wheat germ. Canadian made. This hand lotion has a nice smell, but is rather oily feeling on my hands. This was my only full size sample…and even this is a rather small size.

BONUS:

Schick – Hydro Silk Razor and bonus coupon

$9.95

Water activating moisturizing serum with 5 blades leaves legs feeling silky smooth.

Verdict: I was rather disappointed with this months Topbox. I felt that everything in it was stuff I could have bought myself at the drugstore for probably the same price, with the exception of the Elizabeth Arden Renewal Booster. I love beauty subscriptions because of all the amazing high end products that are harder to find or that I couldn’t otherwise justify buying. I did love the bonus razor but also know that all the other Topboxes also got the razors so I did not include that into my value of the box. I have sent Topbox and email expressing my disappointment…we will now see what their customer service is like!

UPDATE: I contacted Topbox customer service, they asked for me to give them some feedback on what I’d like to see in Topbox. They said they would put a bonus item in my box next month. At least they are trying…hopefully it is something decent. 🙂

Westerns Smokehouse Flavor Snack Stick –

Bacon flavor & Jalapeno flavor (United States) – $2/each

Grab and go smoky-flavored meat stick snacks.

My girls wanted to eat these immediately! The jalapeno stick actually had pieces of jalapeno throughout the meat stick and it had a nice spicy kick to it. The bacon flavor was delicious and had a strong taste of bacon…yum!

Claeys Candy – Watermelon (United States) – $3

Old fashioned hard candy with watermelon flavor.

These are so delicious…like the popular watermelon chewy candies but a hard candy, so they last longer.

Verdict: I love snacks, so this was the perfect box for me and my family! It had a nice mix of candies, chips, cake, and meats. There definitely are some snacks that my family would love to have again, such as meat sticks and candy. It was also fun to try some different snacks from around the World. I feel like this box was a good value and the total price of the snacks added up to more than the box itself. This would be a great gift idea for someone who loves snacks or as a special treat for your family or workplace! Off to go have some more snacks!

Cooper & Kid Subscription Box – Review

The reveal of our Cooper and Kid subscription box… Night #1 our house is “buzzing” with excitement… With so much stuff in the box, there are many more nights of entertainment still to come.  This box was provided free for review purposes.

First Impressions:

The box arrives at our house in a simple brown paper wrapping, and the moment I went to pick it up, I could tell that something special was inside.  The box was actually heavy!  The kids and I got excited, and opened up the box…  instantly we were greeted with a fun, bright, full color insect wrapping paper and instructions.  We could tell the theme of our “Cooper Kit” – INSECTS, and dug in!

As a Dad, I loved the medallion that came with the box (a nice little gift for me).  Its a real medal medallion that I can stuff away in the sock drawer and look back upon it 10 years from now and think of all the fun we had.  I was also quick to notice the high quality materials that came with the kit.  The bug net, is high quality with a metal telescoping shaft;  no cheap dollar-store junk here, its the real deal.  The bug barn kit is solid wood and when built, will last for years.

Even the activity book was spiral bound, thick paper and high quality color printing.  I also liked the numerous ideas the activity book had.  Sure, the Cooper & Kid box is quarterly, but if you did one or two activities as week out of this book, it will last you all the way till the time the next box arrives.   I was impressed!

As suggested in the book, I set up a scavenger hunt for the kids in the backyard, hiding them where bugs would naturally be.  With the bug net in hand (and of course wearing their masks again) they set out into the backyard to find them.  They got the learn about camouflage, hiding, pollination and more while searching for the bugs.  Great time!

I can’t wait to try some of the other activities in the book.  Great desert ideas with gummy worms, healthy ladybug snacks using a cherry tomato and olives.  There really are a ton of ideas in this book.  And the best part is, there is even more “Beyond the Box”  online.  The kids can watch videos, play bug games, movies, ID insects and more – learning, while having fun on the ipad 🙂

Kids’ Impressions:

Of course, they loved it!  After opening up the box like a present on Christmas morning they quickly began playing with the net and plastic insects.  Then they found the masks and began coloring their own creations.  With masks on they thoroughly enjoyed being insects for the evening; and Mom and Dad loved chasing them around the house with the two fly swatters that came with the box – a lot of laughter that night.

The story book that came with the box, “Ace Lacewing” was also high quality.  A good story line, perfect for kids, and bright, full-colored pages to capture their imaginations.  They were glued to the book from cover to cover.

 Verdict:

I was a little leery of this box at first due to the price.  I figured it was more expensive than other boxes on the market, but I quickly saw that you get what you pay for!  Over all I, and my entire family, was very impressed with this box.  High quality items that inspire fun, family activities and long lasting memories; and the best part is, is that you don’t ‘consume’ the product, it will be there for years to play with!  I definitely recommend it for kids and Dads!
