If you’re new here we apologize but to our old friends you know our love for the Youtube series, “Hot Ones”. This review is for the January Hot Ones Subscription from Heatonist. Here’s the Box Breakdown

first look in hot ones box

Our first glimpse inside the Hot Ones Box for January. As you can see there’s a bit of a blip inside.

Okay so what is all this stuff?

Our box insert. The first side lists all the benefits of eating chili’s and the other side lists each of the items we received in this box along with their relation to, “Hot Ones”.

Every box also comes with a couple fun little extras. This month we received this cool Spice Lords sticker. FYI Spice Lords is the name of the Hot Ones fans!

Garlic Reaper Sauce from Torchbearer Sauces

$16

For season 8 of Hot Ones the #7 sauce (where things have traditionally gone awry) is pretty dang hot. This season we have an offering from Torchbearer Sauces (makers of Zombie Apocolypse). This Garlic Reaper sauce has two main ingredients – Carolina Reaper peppers and garlic, that simple. It is all set in a creamy sauce which is a definite change of pace. If you want to see hubby and I try it… watch the unboxing!

Hippy Dippy Green Sauce from Angry Goat Pepper Co.

$8

This tasty sauce is the, “Hot Ones” season 8 #2 sauce. So, while it isn’t epically spicy flavors like kiwi, lime juice and tomatillos makes this sauce extremely tasty. Green sauces are one of our personal faves for tacos – so this is a nice addition to this box!

Cheeba Gold from High River Sauces

$10

Unfortunately, one of our sauces for the month broke in transit. Luckily, Heatonist is replacing it! This sauces smells amazing – a blend of Scotch Bonnet, Fatilli Peppers, lemon, peaches and mustard. This sauce is currently ranked as a #4 sauce in their lineup making it a great addition to almost anything needing a little flavor. Important to note – High River Sauces also made Rogue, the hot sauce that was #6 in the Hot Ones lineup for Season 2 (and was an addition to our hot sauce shelf for well over a year).

So in summary

Presentation: We hate to say it but we’d think shipping glass bottles they’d have done better. Nevertheless, they’re replacing without anything more than an email which is nice

Quality: We love that they include sauces that we recognize from the show and how each of these sauces is created to deliver on the promise of SPICE!

Curation: As this is the beginning of a New Year and a New Season of Hot Ones – we received sauces that will be new to the Hot Ones lineup which is super cool.

Box Economy: For the price of this box $30 we received $34 in sauces which pretty much evens itself out! We really enjoy this subscription box!
