This month’s OwlCrate is “Ruthless Royalty”. Owlcrate is a young adult book subscription that sends a new release, hardcover, first edition signed book and several bookish goodies each month. This subscription is $29.99 + $7.99 shipping. They recently increased their shipping cost but they also ship 2 day priority now which in my opinion is worth it. Not a Tree paid for this subscription. Additionally, there’s also an OwlCrate Jr. Box as well which is suited for younger readers and has more age appropriate items in the boxes. They also have some past boxes for sale on the site, so if you wanted to try 1 box and see if you like it that would be my suggestion. Now lets see what August has brought us!

Pocket Mirror
This compact pocket mirror designed by Catarina Book Designs is gorgeous. The quote “May you always find beauty” is absolutely perfect, this mirror was inspired by the book, “The Belles”. I have noticed that the items that come in the boxes seem to be better and better quality wise – like this little gem. It’s just so pretty and is one of my favorite OwlCrate items that I’ve gotten.
Next, we have a tea towel with a throne of glass quote on it by Little Inklings Design. I, however, will not be using this as a towel, I love anything with a book quote like this and have several wall hangings from owlcrate already. So to me, it looks like it belongs on my wall and if it was used as a towel one would not be able to see it in its entirety. Another beautiful piece, I am such a fan of this.
-Agate Ring-
Genuine gemstone Agate ring by GeoCentral. This ring is, as you can see, very large. It is also adjustable which is neat but the jewelry that we get in Owlcrate is costume jewelry that goes with the book or theme of the month. I don’t think that I will be wearing this although it is very pretty and I love the stone so much. I am going to look into maybe putting the stone on a necklace. I just think its a more fitting place for a stone this size.
We have a print/quote from the book “Before She Ignites” by Jodi Meadows. This is the standard 3″X5″ print that we get in almost every box and I am currently thinking of what I can do with them. I would like to do a collage or a poster board with them or maybe little frames in a design on the wall. If anyone has any ideas please let us know.
Each month we also get an exclusive Owlcrate pin that goes with the theme of the month.
These exclusive Owlcrate evil queen magnetic bookmarks are by Crafted Van. I am in love with these so much, Maleficent is my all-time favorite fairy tale character and the evil queen is a close 2nd so I was excited when I found these in my box and a book lover like myself can never have too many bookmarks.
This book tin is designed by Stella Bookish Art and inspired by the Cruel Prince by Holly Black. This tin is so adorable, I have never gotten anything like this in an Owlcrate box before. When I put it on my shelf with my other books it blends right in and no one is the wiser unless they were to grab it. The designs on this tin are so beautiful, this is another huge hit for us! What a great item (excuse the pictures it was very hard getting a good picture of the shiny metal)
The Book of the month is Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart. This book is set in a world where women have no rights and the main characters are two sisters, one is training to be a Grace the other is her handmaiden. The story is about survival, family. feminism, and the journey that these sisters go through for what they believe in. I have only just started this book but in my opinion, it is going to be one of those that I can barely put down.
September’s theme is Masters of Disguise and will have an exclusive item from artist Cara Kozik.

Owlcrate is my all time favorite subscription box and I think that they include better and better items each month. Even if I am not a fan of the book of the month it is always worth it because they are signed first editions. I have 3 children and I hope to have a large collection to pass down to them, books usually increase in value if properly cared for so for me it’s like an investment. I have tried several other book subscriptions and while I like a few of them very much I always stick to Owlcrate. I will be doing a Year of Owlcrate review soon so keep an eye out.
