Subscription Box Review

Everything that came in my Glam Bag for October. Can we just talk about how amazing the bag is for October – YAS!

So what is all this stuff?

Our bag for the month – this has an illuminati symbol with gold hardware and the zipper pull has a star and crescent moon

The back says, “You’re Magic”

The inside is lined and has Ipsy’s logo in it.

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave In Conditioning Spray

The first item in my bag for the month is from cult hair favorite Briogeo. Their Farewell Frizz Rosarco Milk Leave In is a great product that I have enjoyed in the past – so I’ll definitely be using this product.

Smashbox Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Primer

The second item in our bag is a sample of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. This is their Oil & Shine Control Formulation. I’ve tried this primer in the past and found it effective. Great size for travel

Bobbi Brown Smoky Mascara

Then there’s a sample sized mascara from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. I love Bobbi Brown and the other mascara that I tried from her line before I really liked so I’m excited for this. This is a black mascara.

Illuminati Quad

My favorite item in my package from Ipsy for the month is this quad from Illuminati Cosmetics. The colors are pretty (while not necessarily fall-y).

But check them out swatched… they are absolutely gorgeous. Particularly that third one … you can’t see here in the photo but it has a duo-toned quality that is just beautiful!

Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum

The final item in my glam bag for the month is the showstopper as they say. This 1 ounce bottle of Sunday Riley’s A+ Retinoid Serum works double duty for your skin by diminishing the appearance of fine lines while also refreshing. I’m really excited to try this serum out!

So in summary

Presentation: Everything was packaged well and arrived to me perfectly in my Glam Bag for October. And I really liked the bag for this month too!

Quality: I feel like Ipsy does a really great job of pooling together high quality products (particularly for the price of this subscription) that go above and beyond what you pays for!

Curation: I think the assortment that I received in my bag for the month is an absolutely fantastic one considering Glam Bags are just $12. Yes there are sample sized products but the larger items really make this stand out and I was really impressed with what I received!

Subscription Box Review

My first glimpse inside the Misfits Market Box for October. I love that all their packaging is recyclable and/or biodegradable

Okay so what is all this stuff?

The first item in my box is celery. I don’t remember selecting this as I’m not the hugest celery fan but that’s okay. Penny really likes celery with peanut butter to snack on!

Next up in my box is a spaghetti squash. We love spaghetti squash and usually just roast it in the oven with salt pepper and olive oil.

Then there are four yellow onions in my box. So multi purpose. I typically prefer to cook with yellow onions rather than adding them to sandwiches and salads.

There were two cucumbers included as well. I typically pickle the cucumbers I receive but these are pretty large so I’ll most likely use them in a salad.

These four lemons will be an excellent addition to salads and marinades plus my kids (and myself) really love to snack on them.

There were also four red bell peppers in my box. Two of these were broken and very near expiration but we used them right away in a stir fry and they were just fine.

Six limes – typically I’d say these would be wonderful in a gimlet but it’s sober October folks. I’ll most likely use these in a pico de gallo recipe for Taco Tuesday!

I also selected two bunches of scallions. Like I said above my husband made a stir fry last night and these were excellent in it. I love these in salads and omelettes and soups as well!

There were six jalapenos in my box as well. My husband loves these so I selected them for him!

Another item that I chose for my box is this bunch of collards. We love cooking these up in broth with bacon and onion. I would have liked to receive a bit more as this is not enough for my whole family for a whole meal but that’s okay.

I have to be honest and say that I went a bit overboard in my selection of fruit this month but that’s ok, my kids will definitely eat it. First there’s six Gala Apples.

Then there are six red pears, my husband’s favorite fruit is pears.

Second to last are these eight plum / nectarine hybrids. Or maybe they’re just nectarines I can’t remember. Either way these are delicious!

Finally there were these six bartlett pears.

I did also select an item from the Marketplace to add on to my box – this Core & Rind Cashew Cheesy Sauce as I’m trying to stay away from dairy. It’s really good and can be purchased in the marketplace for $7.49

So in summary

Presentation: Everything was packaged well and arrived to me perfectly in my box from Misfits for this week

Quality: I love that the produce is all organic and non-gmo!

Curation: Considering I select all the items in my box i’d say that the curation is spot on!

Subscription Box Review

My first glimpse inside the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus for September

Everything that came in my September Box from Ipsy. This is a really great assortment!

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert

Because of Covid (i think) they stopped including a list of the items that come in our box and instead opt for a list that gives you tips.

Our bag for the month is another drawstring. I really think this is a beautiful color for fall and love the velvety texture.

Sakura & Sage Vegan Eyeshadow & Blush Palette from Seraphine Botanicals

$42
First up is our full sized palette from Seraphine Botanicals. I love the classic floral prints that they use on all of their products.

Inside there are two blush shades and six shadows. There are three shimmers, one glitter and two matte shades. This in my opinion is really great for days where you just want to use one product …. like if you are in a hurry.

Here they are swatched. Keep in mind the final shadow is a glitter so it really doesn’t show up in a swatch. I was surprised with how pigmented the blushes were, not my favorite to have them this way. I will have to remember to be light in applying.

Hello Ganic Sheet Mask Set (3)

$7.50

Next we have a set of three sheet masks from Hello Ganic. I’ll be honest I’m kind of over sheet masks but I may give these a shot as I’ve been using them more since having lasik surgery.

Fancy Face Nourishing Oil Cleanser

$45

Then there’s the item that I’m most excited about in my box – the Fancy Face Nourishing Oil Cleanser. I love doing a double cleanse, it’s really been helpful with easing up my dry skin. This is a full sized bottle so it should last me a while too which is great! This brand is new to me so I’m excited about that as well.

Laura Geller Spackle Mist Restore

$32

An item I didn’t expect to love as much as I do is the Spackle Mist from Laura Geller. This primes, sets and refreshes your face with or without makeup. I love the scent and throughout the day will just get a hint of it! It does include coconut water to refresh the skin as well!

Centella 80 Eye Cream from Pureheals by Nature Village

$29

The final item in my box for the month is an eye cream. Not really EXCITED for this because I have so many already. The claims do sound great though and this is a huge tube!

So in summary

Presentation: Everything arrived to me perfectly in my box from Ipsy for the month

Quality: I feel like Ipsy does a great job of sourcing high quality makeup and skincare items.

Curation: I really liked this assortment and will definitely be using most of these products.

Box Economy: For the price of this box ($25) I received $155.50 in products which is a crazy good deal!
