KiwiCo (parent company) is a STEM and STEAM based subscription box specifically for kids and teens. Each box is designed to educate and challenge children to think critically and follow step-by-step instructions while producing an amazing fun, usable final project. Recommendation: My kids have been fans of KiwiCo Crates for years! Over the years we have tried a few of the different KiwiCo boxes (Kiwi Crate, Maker Crate, Eureka Crate, Tinker Crate and now Doodle Crate). See our reviews here. Each crate provides hands-on learning with fun crafts or activities that the kids can do by themselves or with a little help from the parents. Our children love getting the KiwiCo box in the mail!
This is our first time trying the Doodle Crate and if you can’t guess from the pictures… the activity was so cool! From the moment we opened the box my daughter was so excited about the project she and I were going to make! My daughter is only 7 years old but with a small amount of direction, she was easily able to sew and create her own design on the front of the portfolio. The step-by-step instructions are clearly laid out so there is no guessing the next step. The quality of this particular project was not as good as I normally have seen with KiwiCo. The materials themselves are great but the two fabrics didn’t stay together very well, so it will need some gluing. I really don’t think this is the normal standard for any KiwiCo crate, maybe it was this particular craft. Normally, the projects are solid and build to last!
My daughter really enjoyed the Doodle Crate! She has been begging me to sew with her, so this was the perfect project for us to work on together. Now that I have seen the Doodle Crate first-hand, I would highly recommend this box to everyone. And when I purchase another KiwiCo, I will for sure be getting a Doodle Crate, it may even be one of my favorite of the KiwiCo boxes!
