The Rotten Fruit Box delivers 100% naturally freeze-dried fruits to your home as a subscription box or a one-time purchase.

Not only are freeze-dried fruits healthy and delicious but with each purchase, you are helping small farmers and making a significant contribution to reducing fruit waste. Sourced from a variety of small, local farms in Portugal and Spain with 100% compostable packaging.

Our name is “rotten,” but our fruit is anything but. Our farmers pick our fruit straight off the tree once it is ready for consumption. It is then freeze-dried while it’s still ripe, before being packaged and sent to our customers. We call ourselves “The Rotten Fruit Box,” because the fruit you’re enjoying would have otherwise gone unused and rotted away on the ground. We also think that the name “Rotten” helps bring attention to the serious issue of food waste.

Recommendations: I have been intrigued by the idea of freeze-dried fruit for a while now. The Rotten Fruit Box caught my eye and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. So one day I just had to purchase a box. My whole family is obsessed with berries so I was sure this would be a great pick! The glowing reviews on their website got me even more excited! When the box arrived, all the way from Portugal, my family dove right in. We first started sampling the strawberries, then proceeded to the other packages, only sampling a few of each at a time. The votes were divided as to which people liked best. Raspberries and strawberries seemed to be the top choices to eat as a snack. The blueberries were amazing in our homemade lemon blueberry pancakes. The blackberries were our least favorite with lots of seeds and not much flavor. I am looking forward to using more of the fruit in my baking, adding the strawberry bits to create flavored icing on cupcakes, and anything else that is left can be eaten as snacks, while on hikes and camping trips.

I would highly recommend trying The Rotten Fruit Box (I know the name throws some people off, but this fruit/food is anything but rotten!). You get free shipping on a low minimum order. I love the versatility of the freeze-dried fruits, they can be added to almost anything or eaten as a snack and they keep for a very long time. There is no sugar added, so they are extremely healthy and probably cost the same or less as out-of-season fruit, but don’t go bad as fast. Most importantly, you are helping reduce the amount of food waste in the world.
