Here’s the Box Breakdown

first look in bbq box

Our first glimpse inside the BBQ Box.

Everything that we received in our May BBQ Box. This month our recipe was “Blackened Chicken Alfredo Pasta”. Because this box doesn’t involve smoking in lieu of wood chips you get an additional spice.

So what is all this stuff?

Our box insert is our recipe.

The reverse has detailed instructions on how to complete this recipe.

Busha Brown’s Jerk Seasoning Rub

$7.39

This authentic Jamaican rub has been used for hundred’s of years and was originally used on boar meat. You can use it on whatever meat (or veggie) you’d like to get a spicy jerk flavor!

Jamaican Jerk Chicken Jerky from Jerky.com

$7.99

This all natural chicken jerky has no added hormones, no nitrates and no added MSG.

The jerky was tender and tasted great. Despite the “jerk” name it wasn’t too spicy yet had tons of flavor!

Chef Paul Prudehomme Magic Blackened Steak Seasoning Blend

$3.oo

This seasoning will substitute your salt, pepper and other herbs in all your blackened recipes. While the label says this can be used on steak – you can also use this on all types of meat and even vegetables! Chef Paul has a wide variety of spice blends available on his site that look really tasty as well!

Reese Specialty Food Non-pareil Capers

$2.65

Add a pop of flavor with these tasty capers. These can also be used in pasta dishes (how we typically use them) in addition to your blackened chicken recipe!

So in summary

We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation and presentation. The BBQ Box is a great way to up your grilling or smoking game each month with a fresh recipe and coordinating spices and sauces. The presentation is great, everything is packaged well and arrives perfectly. The quality is awesome – each item is well made and we really enjoyed this month’s jerky. Curation is awesome. They do a great job of putting together spices and sauces that work well to compliment the recipe that they’ve sent. Great month from BBQ Box!
