Grillers Monthly by Grillers Paradise Review – May 2021 Box

Each Grillers Monthly box comes with an information card outlining each item in the box.  This box contained the following:

  • Meat Shredding Claws – Gourmet Village – retail value $5.95
  • Ray’s Rubs – Blend M57 – Southwest Pulled Pork Rub – retail value $8.95
  • Ray’s Rubs – Blend M47 – Barbacoa Rub – retail value $8.95
  • Smoke Bomb – Alder – Smokin’ BBQ – retail value $5.95
  • Cape Herb & Spice – Louisiana Cajun Rub Shaker – retail value $9.95
  • Cape Herb & Spice – Spicy BBQ Grinder – retail value $6.95

Total value = $46.70 CAD

Verdict:  Pulled Pork – Here I Come! I really liked how this box had a consistent theme based around creating a mouth-watering pulled pork dinner.  The shredding claws will be a welcome addition to the kitchen utensil drawer as trying to make pulled pork with a couple of tiny forks is no fun.  Also, they double as salad tongs in a pinch.  The Ray’s Rubs have been a favorite of mine and I use my mesquite rub often.  Really great flavor, so I’m excited to try these new ones.  The smoke bomb looks really cool, and I like how it’s ready to use as is.  The other rub and BBQ grinder will be surely used as well (I love the idea of a pepper-grinder style to it).  Again I found that the combined retail value of each item exceeded the price of the box.  As I said before, the combined price does not include the value placed on discovering new spices from local Canadian companies and great flavors from around the world.  I think the real value comes from the excitement to try new things on the BBQ or in the kitchen, and find new favorites – I know I have.

Grillers Monthly by Grillers Paradise Review – October 2020 Box

Each Grillers Monthly box comes with an information card outlining each item in the box.  This box contained the following:

  • Wilhelm’s Provisions Coffee Porter Barbecue Sauce -$9.95
  • Wilhelm’s Provisions Sweet Heat Marinade -$7.95
  • Ray’s Rubs – M-22 Mesquite BBQ Rub – $8.95
  • JUST GRILLIN’ Tea Towels – $16.95
  • Grillers Monthly Ball-point Pen – $2.95
  • Grillers Paradise $5 OFF card

Total value = $51.75

Verdict:

This is my third Grillers Monthly box that I have received and this month had new surprises and was different enough from previous boxes that it kept me wanting more.  The Wilhelm’s BBQ Sauce and marinade are truly a great find.  I have never seen these in stores and I can’t wait to try them out.  The Mesquite BBQ Rub will be great to try on Salmon spicing and changing up my usual recipe.  I thought that the towels are a great addition and will look great hanging from the cabinet door on my BBQ.  To be honest, I chuckled a little at the ball point pen and the price of $2.95; I think that items in the box should better fit the typical end user, a BBQ enthusiast.   I found that the combined retail value of each item exceeded the price of the box, even after the pen and $5 coupon were taken off.  As I said before, the combined price does not include the value placed on discovering new spices from local Canadian companies and great flavors from around the world.  I think the real value comes from the excitement to try new things on the BBQ or in the kitchen, and find new favorites.

Grillers Monthly by Grillers Paradise Review – September 2020 Box

Each Grillers Monthly box comes with an information card outlining each item in the box.  This box contained the following:

  • Smoke Show Lightly Smoked Jalapeno Hot Sauce – $11.95
  • Smoke Show Lightly Smoked Jalapeno BBQ Sauce – $11.95
  • Epicureal Five Berries Five Peppercorn Blend – $6.95
  • The BBQ Chef – Burger Essentials – Original $2.95
  • The BBQ Chef – Burger Essentials – Tequila Lime $2.95
  • Sizzle Sauce Mini – Quiet Valley Sauce and Vine – $2.95
  • 10% Discount Card

Total value = $39.70

This box came with a 10% off card which will work great for my next order of my favorite sauce!  This place has EVERYTHING!

A sample handwritten gift card note that you can ‘request’ at the time of order with the first subscription box.

Verdict:

This is my second box from Grillers Monthly and this box did not disappoint!  I usually season my own burgers (or rather my wife adds her secret blend of pantry findings), so I am excited to try the two seasoning packages.  Tequila Lime will be great for our turkey burgers!  The Smoke Show sauces are a great find as I’m always looking for a little kick to my food.  Oddly enough, I’m not a huge pepper fan, so the value to the five pepper corn mix was a little lost on me.  Conveniently enough, my pepper grinder just ran out and need a refill, so the timing was perfect (guests can enjoy).  I found that the combined retail value of each item matched the price of the box.  As I said before, the combined price does not include the value placed on discovering new spices from local Canadian companies and great flavors from around the world.  I think the real value comes from the excitement to try new things on the BBQ, and find new favorites.

I love to BBQ year round, even in the middle of a Canadian winter.  There is something about cooking on that flame that brings out a joy of food prep that can be lost in a indoor kitchen.  Grillers’ Paradise (located in Mississauga, Ontario) understands this urge to get outside and create mouth watering meals and has created a subscription box to showcase some of the best, unique and hard to find products you likely won’t find anywhere else.  I was truly excited to get this box in the mail!

Each Grillers’ Paradise box comes with an information card outlining each item in the box.

Fajita Spice Blend – Perth Pepper and Pestle

My family loves fajita night, but the usual store-bought “taco seasoning” can become over-done and we need to kick it up a notch.  This will most likely be used inside to pan fry a fajita mix, but it can also be used as a rub on steaks and chicken or to make a tasty pan a shrimp.

Maritime Madness – Bacon Blaze – Bacon Hot Sauce

I was very excited about this hot sauce as I love spicy food, and I love bacon.  This sauce hails from Prince Edward Island and retails for $9.95  I sampled this sauce expecting a stronger bacon taste to it, but I was happy with the amount of spice.  It did have a nice bacony aftertaste and will be great on hamburgers!

Harissa – The Epicentre $8.95

I am very excited to try this chili sauce mix.  It is very versatile as it can be used as a meat rub, mixed with oil and garlic for a paste or even added to yogurt to create a dip.  I’m sure it will be used for all three in my house.   I discovered that typically Harissa is used in Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian cooking.  I love exploring the worldly favors on the market and am glad this subscription box included this one.  I never would have bought it on my own, and the grillers’ monthly team found a gem!

Bush Dreams Forestberry Chipotle Rub $8.95

Mmmm, smokey chipotle rub with a nice little kick.  I cracked this one open right away and sampled it in my hand.  It will put a wonderful Australian twist on cooking as it uses both Forestberry and Mountain Pepper  from the Australian outback.  Another great find!

Hot Pepper Napkins

If you plan on following the ideas given by the Grillers’ Paradise team on the included card, you will be enjoying many delicious finger licking good dinners!  What better way to compliment the spices than a fun pack of pepper napkins.  Bright and colorful, these will add a little visual spice to your table.

Verdict: I love to BBQ and of course this box brought a smile to my face.  At first I thought the price was a little high for a subscription box with only a few products, but after doing my research I found that the combined retail value of each item matched or exceeded the price of the box.  That does not include the value placed on discovering new spices from local Canadian companies and great flavors from around the world.  The value of the combined items and the care put into its selection by the curators makes this box a great deal as a stand-alone one month purchase and an even better deal when subscribed to multiple months.  The website seems a little dated as compared to other subscription boxes, but the value is in the product.   I do wish that all products in the box were available through their online store, or at least links to the official product page to learn more and order more once I run out.  Overall, a great gift for the griller in your life!
